Letter Codes

Verbal Reasoning: Paper B (Intermediate)

Instructions:

Codes in this paper usually shift letters by 2 or 3 places. Sometimes they use a Mirror pattern (where A becomes Z).

Example:

If the code for EAR is GCT,

what is the code for LIP?

How to work it out: This code jumps forward 2 spaces.

  • Find E. Jump 2 spaces (F... G).
  • Find A. Jump 2 spaces (B... C).
  • Find R. Jump 2 spaces (S... T).

Now do the same for LIP:

  • Jump 2 from L to get N.
  • Jump 2 from I to get K.
  • Jump 2 from P to get R.

Answer: NKR
