Welcome, Puzzle Solver!
This is a special challenge to test your algebraic thinking! You'll need to work with function machines, expressions from shapes, equations with brackets and even inequalities. It's time to show your advanced problem-solving skills!
You may need a pencil and paper for your workings.
What's in the Quiz?
- Working Towards: Using pictures and number lines to find missing values.
- Expected Standard: Completing function machines and translating word problems into expressions.
- at Greater Depth: Forming expressions from shapes and finding rules from patterns.
- Grammar School Entry: Solving equations with brackets, simplifying expressions, and working with inequalities.
Advice for Success
- For function machines, remember to work backwards using inverse operations if you are given the output.
- When simplifying expressions, only combine the terms that are alike (e.g., all the 'a' terms together, all the 'b' terms together).
- Remember that an inequality (like < or >) tells you a range of possible answers, not just one.
- You can press the 'Enter' key to check your answer and move on.
